Foster Community Association began working quietly and steadily back in 1998, to help make the Foster and Corner Inlet district a better place to live, work and play.

Over the years, our members have championed dozens of initiatives that now enrich our daily lives:

  • A refreshed streetscape to help improve the town centre’s visual appeal and infrastructure
  • A student decorated rotunda
  • Improved visibility at the Toora Road/South Gippsland Highway intersection
  • Refurbishment of the ‘Welcome to Foster’ Lyrebird sign
  • Completion of Stage I of Foster Station Park
  • The upgraded Corner Inlet (Foster North) Scenic Lookout
  • Children’s playground at Foster Showgrounds
  • Prom Country Farmers’ Market
  • A staffed Visitor Information Centre
  • Footpaths extended to the hospital, Rail Trail and to Ahern’s
  • Disability-friendly footpaths
  • Speed limit in town reduced from 60 to 50 kph
  • Bridge over Stockyard Creek rebuilt
  • Longer library hours
  • Expanded network of walking, cycling and riding tracks around Foster
  • … and more

Our. current priorities include:

  • Nurturing the sustainability of the Foster community
  • Stimulating more reasons to visit Foster
  • Improving Stockyard Creek
  • Removing the provision of plastic bags in Foster
  • Improving Foster’s recreational facilities
  • Improving the consecutiveness and safety of our footpaths and roads
  • Lobbying for improved Council services

Foster Community Association has also taken a lead role in raising awareness of the negative effects of coal seam gas exploration and mining and the implications for our local area.

New members are always welcome.  Our meetings are publicised in The Mirror and circulated to members.  Why not join us?
